Making Potpourri ~*

Today I am making Potpourri!

I preserve Wedding, Memorial and Quinceanera bouquets.
 Whenever there are leftover petals,
I make potpourri for my customers at no charge.

It is easier to make than you might think!

You can use the dried up, waning parts of a bouquet
you have received from a special occasion!

Gather autumn leaves, garden flowers, leaves, berries,
seed pods, grasses, interesting sticks, etc.
For an extra effect, slice oranges, lemons or limes and let them dry.
You can also add cinnamon sticks or whole cloves.
Get creative by adding bits of ribbon, beads, glitter and other items, too!

Remove stems and take flowers apart.
Spread your plant material out on newsprint paper,
a cookie sheet, or in a large open basket.
Let the petals sit for a week or two,
gently turning them over now and then.

When everything is dry and the threat of mold is past,
Gather up your plant material in a plastic bag.
Add a few drops of scented oil to the bag.
Close the bag and turn it gently.
Let it set for a day so all the flowers absorb the scent.

You can find scented oils in the candle making section of the craft store.
(This step can be omitted)

You have made potpourri!!!

Display the potpourri in a pretty bowl, basket, or a decorative container!

Christmas Ornaments

You can find glass ball ornaments at the craft store.
Carefully pull the top off and gently push petals into the ball.
Tie with matching ribbon, or a ribbon from your special event!
Add glitter or confetti for bling!
With a gold marker, mark the date and event when you received the flowers!

I love making potpourri and my customers are always surprised
by this little unexpected gift!

Peonies and Roses ~

Beautiful, Fragrant White and Pink Peonies always take me back to Indiana,
where they are the State Flower.
This Texas Bridal Bouquet was brimming with Peonies.
The White Roses had just a blush of pink.
They filled my studio with fragrance as I enjoyed preserving every petal!

The lace piece in the corner had been wrapped around the stems of the bouquet
and added a nice touch to the art!
